Wilfried F. VossIt’s All About Me, Me, Me!

I don’t think anyone should write their autobiography until after they’re dead.
- Samuel Goldwyn

My name is Wilfried F. Voss and my sixth sense tells me I am still alive. I am the president and owner of Copperhill Media, a small publishing company (officially, I am a micro-publisher).

I am also the editor of FrogenYozurt.Com, which started off as a personal blog, but eventually turned into a full-blown online magazine with an ever increasing readership. I took the liberty of distorting the name of a major food group and make it my personal web site. Well, the actual major food group used to be ice cream, which, first of all, was impossible to distort in a way that captures one’s mind and leaves it there forever. Secondly, according to my doctor and especially my wife, frozen yogurt is much healthier for me than ice cream (I take their word for it…). Out of rebellion I created the term FrogenYozurt and later found that it makes for a heck of a web site name.

I was born and raised in Germany, but for the past twenty-plus years my home and my heart have been in beautiful New England. I share my birthday with celebrities like THE KING (Elvis Presley), Stephen Hawking, and David Bowie, which is January 8 (not the same year, though).

My background is in Electrical Engineering and my special skills allowed me to travel all over the world, until I found my home here in the United States. I married to an Irish-American green-eyed red-head, which made me an “Irish-by-Marriage,” and on May 27th, 2007 I was blessed with the birth of my son, Patrick. The same year I was also officially received into the Episcopal Church – We’re not Catholic, but that is another story and shall be told another time. The next adventure will be to finally become an American citizen.

A Czech proverb says “Learn a new language and you gain another soul” and I can say, despite being familiar with the English language for many years, living in the United States has gained me another soul. I started writing and publishing technical literature, while still maintaining my job as the president of a business that sells industrial electronics components. The first book helped me to overcome the writer’s fear of being published and I will continue this line of work, because it is rewarding, not due to the monetary compensation, but, egoistically and arrogantly, for my mind.

Since 2009 I am exploring another genre of writing, namely fiction writing. I have numerous ideas in my head that would provide enough material for at least another four or five books, but as Peter De Vries said: ”I love being a writer. What I can’t stand is the paper work.” Writing a novel takes time and being my worst critic, it always takes some time before I am satisfied with my own writing.

In 2009 I finished and published The Bleeding Hills, a novel on the Irish Troubles (See reference to the right). Honestly, I wrote The Bleeding Hills with the intention of getting a look and feel of the writing and publishing industry. Nevertheless, my writing is always based on extensive research, and when done I refer to Mark Twain who once said, “Get your facts first, and then you can distort them as much as you please.” Writing The Bleeding Hills was nothing short of exciting, and I am looking forward to more of the same adventure.

I have learned early that the best marketing tool for your first novel is the release of your second, and here we go, here comes American Male Prostitute! And yet again, this is yet another novel that was not part of my original dream. That dream was to write that work that is in my mind for at least ten years, and I hope I will eventually get to writing it. The idea for American Male Prostitute spawned very quickly and set off an intense fire that kept burning until it was finished.

And while writing it, I started another two novels and wrote a number of short stories, which I plan to publish next. Also, American Male Prostitute will have a sequel titled Project BBS – Baffle them With Your Bullshit.

Last, but not least, let me point to a few of the books I have published for other authors who were ignored by traditional publishers, but found a home at Copperhill Media.
